Bangkok Dangerous- September 6th

Bangkok Dangerous (1999)
Thai- Action, with guns
Rated “R”
Runtime- 105 min.
dir. Oxide Pang Chun and Danny Pang

I wish I could use this film as an argument for the fact that media recording type doesn’t matter as much as story and characters, but the movie isn’t a good example.

Story/Writing: 1/2

Predictability aside, the plot is as shallow as the characters.

Acting: 1/2

There isn’t a lot to be done with such light characterization available in the script.

Photography/Set: .5/2

I felt like it was hiding a lot during most of the sequences. Even though most of the sets were interior spaces, there could have been a lot more wide and master shots to establish the setting.

Sound/FX: 1.5/2

Decent post-production visuals and very good violence effects, both of which needed to be nailed for this flick to even be watchable.

Misc: 1/2

It lands right on the line between watchable and skippable. After reading this, look it up on Netflix and read their description. If you still want to see it, go for it.
