Ong-Bak: The Thai Warrior- August 22nd

Ong-Bak: The Thai Warrior (2003)
Thai- Martial Arts
Rated “R”
Runtime- 105 min.
dir. Prachya Pinkaew

I originally thought that this would be kind of a throwaway movie, especially since I couldn’t really find a good poster for it.

Story/Writing: 1.5/2

Not hugely important, but it’s pretty good anyway. Even if it doesn’t always make sense from  a perspective of reality.

Acting: 1/2

A little worse than the story itself, but thankfully there isn’t much talking.

Photography/Set: 2/2

I thought that it was interesting how completely they ended up detroying a lot of the sets they were on. I wonder how many takes for each shot were possible because of this.

Sound/FX: 2/2

Awesome fighting overcomes all. I am now a huge fan of Thai martial arts and the related films if the rest are anything like this one.

Misc: 1/2

It’s too bad the plot and acting parts aren’t very good, but I suppose sacrifices must be made in order to have killer fight sequences.

VERDICT: 7.5/10

Great for anyone seeking a good beat-em-up film.
