I never thought that the words “Gwyneth Paltrow vehicle” would ever come out of my mouth. It’s a good thing that I’m just typing this, and not dictating.
Story/Writing: 1/2
I would like to think that I have patience when it comes to most film plots. I’m typically willing to let most stories develop before getting mad, but this one was exceptionally slow. And I don’t think it’s the subject matter, because I watched and understood Pride and Prejudice (BBC version, of course), and it wasn’t this bad.
Acting: 1.5/2
Not bad, thanks to a great ensemble. It’s too bad that male British actors again outshine the females in another period piece, but oh well.
Photography/Set: 1/2
Static and stereotypical.
Sound/FX: 1.5/2
Misc: 1/2
I guess I could understand if this film isn’t really meant for me, but as I mentioned before, I’ve had positive experiences in the past with the genre.
VERDICT: 6/10
