Witness for the Prosecution- July 4th

Witness for the Prosecution (1957)
English- Crime Drama
Not Rated
Runtime- 116 min.
dir. Billy Wilder

I’m not going to try to describe this movie other than to say that it is very well-written and acted, but I guess I’m supposed to say that down there: \/\/\/

Story/Writing: 2/2

Based off an Agatha Christie story, so you know it’s good.  One of the best endings I’ve ever seen put to film.

Acting: 2/2

Everyone with their name on that poster is dynamite.  Charles Laughton as the crotchety Sir Wilfrid Robarts is absolutely hysterical in the driest manner possible.

Photography/Set: 1.5/2

Simple sets complimented with stark photography serve to be undistracting from the performance.

Sound/FX: 1.5/2

The effects employed were done in a practical and believable style, lending credence to their effect on the plot.

Misc: 1.5/2

It was really good, and completely satisfying.

VERDICT: 8.5/10

Required watching for fans of court and crime dramas.
