Drive (2011) English- Action-Noir Crime Drama Rated “R” Runtime- 100 min. dir. Nicolas Winding Refn
So it would seem that director Nicolas Winding Refn has managed to go one for two on this blog so far, something I didn’t expect.
Drive stars Ryan Gosling as a cool stunt driver by day, and an awesome getaway driver by night. When the mob becomes violently involved in his life, he takes his revenge the only way he knows how.
Sometimes takes a couple strange twists and turns, but ultimately ends in a pretty awesome place.
Ryan Gosling owns up all up on Albert Brooks and Ron Perlman, who play the two mob bosses. Meanwhile, Bryan Cranston and Carey Mulligan are two very welcome characters in the supporting cast.
The sets are good, but the coloring makes some scenes feel a little off.
Good violence effects that aren’t too over the top. A killer soundtrack served to compliment the overall feel of the movie, as well as highlight the setting.
A great movie packed into a neat little package (100 min!)
Nice to watch for fans of higher level action flicks, but satisfying for anyone.
