Winter’s Bone (2010) English- Drama Rated “R” Runtime- 100 min. dir. Debra Granik
I thought this movie looked dumb, but it actually surprised me with some of the poignant scenes.
A fairly interesting story about a strong young woman taking care of her family against an uncaring world.
Jennifer Lawrence is great as the solitary lead, but the ensemble is weak at times.
Really detailed sets that immerse the audience in the world of the characters.
In this case, the absence of a major soundtrack really helps to focus the audience on the action on-screen.
Good, but a little long for what content is there.
Worth a watch for fans of independent films or niche dramas.
