Here Comes the Groom- May 11th

Here Comes the Groom (1951)
English- Romantic Comedy
Not Rated
Runtime 113 min.
dir. Frank Capra

While I’m not very familiar with his work, I would certainly hope that Mr. Capra has better offerings to the world of film than a few really good romantic comedies and family flicks.

Story/Writing: 1.5/2

A well-written comedy involving a charming Bing Crosby as he tries to win back a lost love.

Acting: 1.5/2

As I said, Crosby is as good as ever, leading a good cast.  The children are actually pretty good, which is a bit surprising.

Photography/Set: 1/2

A lot of the sets look like Hollywood cut-outs with not a whole lot of thought put into the overall design.  The editing was a little slipshod at times, revealing the seams in the overall fabric of the film.

Sound/FX: 1.5/2

Decent, but again lost points on post-production.

Misc: 1.5/2

Really solid, but utterly safe.

VERDICT: 7/10

Good for a family who appreciates the classics.
