The Wild Hunt- May 7th

The Wild Hunt (2009)
English- Psychological Drama
Rated- “R”
Runtime 95 min.
dir. Alexandre Franchi

After being first interested in the film’s poster, my interest was further piqued by the film’s actual premise.

In short, this movie is about some LARP fantasy that goes awry.  Despite being perhaps an unfriendly idea to people on the outside, the plot itself is actually pretty inclusive.

Story/Writing: 1.5/2

Really great, but the ending feels a like the whole project may have been a little rushed.

Acting: 2/2

A lot of great young talent, especially for Canadians (lolz).  I wouldn’t be surprised if a lot of them participated in the activity itself.  Mark Krupa is a lot of fun as the protagonist’s older borther.

Photography/Set: 1.5/2

Pretty cool sets, but some of the overexposure in the apartment scenes was stupid.  The forest also felt a little closed off sometimes, mostly because of the time of day that the scenes take place during.

Sound/FX: 1.5/2

Good soundtrack and visual effects, certainly for a lower-budget flick.

Misc: 1.5/2

A good film, really good if you’re a nerd and get some of the “in” jokes.
