For April 22nd (Substitution)- Saving Private Perez

Aquí está la cosa: Saving Private Perez is a random substitute movie that I watched a couple weeks ago.  It’s this weird action/adventure/Mexican/ comedy/Western film that is a surprising amount of fun to watch.

Story/Writing: 1.5/2

A Mexican drug lord must rescue his brother, who is an imprisoned American soldier in Iraq.  The incidental and situation comedy on tap is great!

Acting: 1.5/2

A great overall cast, but perhaps too plentiful.

Photography/Set: 2/2

Nice, large sets that are actually able to capture the feel of the setting pretty well.  The shooting style is fairly standard, but it’s still pretty fun.

Sound/FX: 2/2

Great gun effects that aren’t too over the top.  Good musical choices as well.  The computer and technology stuff that is featured is unrealistic, but since it is presented in a cartoonish manner, it fits well.

Misc: 1/2

A good movie, but I didn’t feel like it was very memorable.

VERDICT: 8/10

Really great for a late night comedy fix, especialmente entre los amigos.
