For April 18th- Kick-Ass

More posts, starting with this one: This comic book adaptation follows a young man as he becomes involved in the world of vigilante heroes.  Controversial for its use of gratuitous violence involving a child.

Story/Writing: 1.5/2

Standard superhero plot with some self-awareness tossed in for the nerds.

Acting: 2/2

A bunch of larger than life characters, but it really fits the style of the movie.

Photography/Set: 1.5/2

Decent sets, but the action photography is a little plaintive.  It seems to be attempting cookie-cutter sequences, but can’t even quite accomplish that.

Sound/FX: 2/2

Good fighting sequences, but again they could look better.  The violence is graphic and very comic book styled.

Misc: 1.5/2

It gets some of the same problems that a lot of graphic novel and superhero movies get in that they have to spend a lot of time establishing backstory.  Thankfully, this one is pretty interesting.

VERDICT: 8.5/10

Good for the nerds, lolz.
